Welcome to the Florida Online Request for Certification Fee Waiver!

This application is for individuals who are applying to request a Certification Fee Waiver. Department of Education/Bureau of Educator Certification has four waiver types:

Military Waiver: This new legislative provision introduces the opportunity for active duty military personnel, honorably discharged veterans, and their spouses or surviving spouses to request a waiver of registration fees for initial attempts on examinations required for Educator Certification and/or application fees for initial evaluations of eligibility for Educator Certification.

First Responder Waiver: The new legislative provision introduces the opportunity for retired first responders, which includes a law enforcement officer, a firefighter, an emergency medical technician or a paramedic to request a waiver of registration fees for initial attempts for the general knowledge, professional education, and subject area examinations required for Educator Certification and/or application fees for initial evaluation of eligibility for Educator Certification.

Exceptional Student Education / Elementary Education Waiver, vice versa, Elementary Education Waiver / Exceptional Student Education: The new legislative provision introduces the opportunity to request waivers of first-time initial certification and certification examination fees for:

• Educators who hold a temporary or professional certificate in Exceptional Student Education K–12 and apply to add a subject coverage in Elementary Education K–6
• Educators who hold a temporary or professional certificate in Elementary Education K–6 and apply to add a subject coverage in Exceptional Student Education K–12

Instructions for completing the Online Waiver Request

Before requesting a waiver, applicants must first create an account via the Certification Fee Waivers site. Once registered and logged in successfully, select the type of waiver request applying for. Complete the waiver eligibility by entering your applicant details information and following the “Next” buttons through each of the application sections. Your waiver request will not be reviewed for eligibility until you submit the waiver request and any verifying documentation to demonstrate eligibility for the selected waiver.

Your request cannot be reviewed until it is complete and received in the Florida Department of Education. Once completed, all requests are processed in date order and you will be notified via email regarding your waiver eligibility status.

WARNING: Giving false information in order to obtain or renew a Florida educator’s certificate is a criminal offense under Florida law. Anyone giving false information is subject to criminal prosecution as well as disciplinary action by the Education Practices Commission.
